Sarasate's Op.26 No.1 was not titled by Sarasate, but has become known as Vito after the dance it was inspired by. The middle section is based on a popular Spanish song by Fermín María Álvarez called 'La Partida'. Along with the Habanera which completes the set, It was composed in 1881 and dedicated to the great Hungarian violinist Leopold Auer.
