Saverio Mercadante


Saverio Mercadante
Saverio Mercadante (c.1795-1870) was an Italian composer, who was known primarily for writing operas.

He was a contemporary of Rossini and Donizetti, and while Mercadente hasn’t achieved the same posthumous recognition as that pair, he did make his own stylistic contributions to 19th century Italian opera.

Mercadente’s Flute Concerto in E minor has become a staple of the flute repertoire, and piano accompaniment tracks for that work are available on this website. A link can be found below.
