Saverio Mercadante
Saverio Mercadante (c.1795-1870) was an Italian composer, who was known primarily for writing operas.
He was a contemporary of Rossini and Donizetti, and while he hasn’t achieved the same posthumous recognition he did make his own stylistic contributions to 19th century Italian opera.
Mercadente’s Flute Concerto in E minor has become a staple of the flute repertoire, and piano accompaniment tracks for that work are available on this website. A link can be found below.
