As of January 1st 2021 I am required to charge VAT on digital products to customers within the EU, which is charged at the national rate from where the customer resides (not where my business resides which is the United Kingdom). This VAT is collected by me and then distributed back to the customer's national tax authority - the U.K. government does not receive this tax revenue. The standard national VAT rates are listed below.
Before Brexit there was a EU-wide revenue threshold (which I was below) which meant I did not have to charge EU VAT. Unfortunately now the U.K. is no longer in the EU this threshold no longer applies, hence I am obliged to apply this tax. If this situation changes in the future I shall provide updates on the website.
While I don’t send out printed invoices automatically, due to my products being sent electronically, if you require an invoice for tax purposes please let me know and I’ll send it to you.
