Sarasate's Op.26 No.2 has become known as Habanera after the dance it was inspired by, despite it not being named as such by the composer, who had already written and titled another Habanera in his Opus 21 set. This Opus 26 set of Spanish Dances was composed in 1881 and dedicated to the great Hungarian violinist Leopold Auer.
