Amy Beach (1867-1944) wrote this beautiful Romance for violin and piano in 1893. It was dedicated to the virtuoso violinist Maud Powell, who was a close friend, and the two women premiered the work together. It is particularly noteable for how well the musical ideas are communicated between the two instruments.
